Shepway District Council and Juicy Fruits of Folkestone are working together to help to increase the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables eaten each day with a 'Fruit and Veg' bag scheme which is a non profit making scheme for local primary schools, nurseries and local community groups. Shepway residents can take advantage of the convenience of buying good quality fresh fruit and vegetables at a reduced rate from the school playground or community meeting point, at £4.00 per fruit bag and £2.50 per veg bag every Wednesday (during school term time).
The fruit and vegetable bags are offered to schools, pre-schools and any local community group, currently going to over 20 locations each week - 12 of which are Shepway primary schools. The local NHS health promotion team are so impressed with our scheme they are hoping to expand the scheme to other areas in the near future.
