Resources for working with children

Toddler's Toolkit

Plymouth City Council has produced a toolkit with 10 activity sheets which can be used to deliver food and other safety messages to 0-3 year olds and their parents. The activity sheets cover key messages regarding food safety, healthy eating, being active, sun safety and toy safety.

A CD accompanies the toolkit and contains the majority of the resources required for each activity.  The resources from the CD are available on the Council’s webpage. The toolkit and resources can also be easily adapted for use by any age group.

Breakfast Club Toolkit

Available on the Foodvision website, the toolkit was updated in October 2009 and is designed to help teachers, governors and parents understand the advantages of, and how to set up, a breakfast club in their school.

 The Lottie Project

Lottie Project
The Lottie Project is a growing programme for Lewes schools. Year 4 children attend a series of workshops in Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter to enable them to see the cycle of growing. They plant up and nurture a variety of produce which is picked when ready and taken back to school to prepare, cook and eat. The project's attractive annual report gives full details of background, methods and successes of this project. Ideal for schools and organisations looking to set up something similar. Visit the project's webpage to download the pdf, or order a free hard copy from Katharine Finnigan at Common Cause Cooperative Ltd, katharine@commoncause.org.uk
